We got an email overnight from one of our Auckland-based drivers who's pretty disappointed that he won't be able to attend the main Super Haka event at Aotea Square at lunchtime. But the story he shared with us is like the stories we've heard from so many of our drivers around the country, not to mention the stories from our Christchurch drivers. It's these stories that led us to the Super Haka idea.
Here's part of the email we got:
Our thoughts will be with everyone involved especially since my sister and her family live in New Brighton and my brother in law, who is a paramedic USAR specialist, has had the most unpleasant job crawling through the rubble and buildings in the Red zone since the quake. This as you may imagine has taken an emotional toll on them and our whole family so any help for Christchurch will help us all.
That's why we want your support and participation today.
